Gulf Oil Spill -- How to Help

For more pictures: Louisiana Oil Spill 2010.

There is an oil leak the size of Delaware in the Gulf of Mexico. That's big. It's around 130 miles by 70 miles, and as of this morning, at least 23 sea turtles had washed ashore on the coast of Missisippi. Fishing has been banned from Louisiana to Florida. And by the way, the oil leak hasn't even been stopped yet. It isn't over.

So what can YOU do to help? It doesn't matter where you live. You can still help. From the The Huffington Post, some simple things you can do:
Follow the CrisisCamp Twitter List. This is a compilation of non-profit organizations and individuals updating on the oil leak and what you can do to help.
Send Barack Obama a message via National Wildlife Federation: Speak Up for Urgent Need to Restore Louisiana's Coastal Wetlands.
Make a donation to the National Audobon Society is looking for volunteers and donations.

Twitter-ers to Follow:
This isn't going to go away. The leak is still gushing. It does not matter where you live-- this impacts you. It's impacting businesses, restaurants, wildlife, tourism, and the economy in general. Do what you can. A donation of just $5 can make a world of difference.
If you live in an effected area: To report oiled wildlife, please call 1-866-557-1401 and leave a message. Messages will be checked hourly. To discuss spill related damage, please call 1-800-440-0858. To report oiled shoreline or request volunteer information, please call 1-866-448-5816.

Thought of the Day

In Jesus Was An Immigrant, Would Republicans Deport Him?, over at GALiberal.com, Dustin posted some great quotes from the Bible:
  • Exodus 22:21 “You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.”
  • Exodus 23:9, “Do not oppress an alien; you yourselves know how it feels to be aliens, because you were aliens in Egypt.”
  • Deuteronomy 1:16 “And I charged your judges at that time: Hear the disputes between your brothers and judge fairly, whether the case is between brother Israelites or between one of them and an alien."
